What VESTA Insoles is
VESTA Insoles is a Portuguese company that designs and manufactures custom-made orthotic insoles from a smartphone foot scan. The service was created by physicians with more than 15 years of clinical practice, over 10,000 biomechanical analyses and over 5,000 custom insoles produced. It brings the process used in a medical clinic to a phone: a 3D scan of each foot, a recorded gait and alignment assessment, a clinical design step, and precision manufacturing.
How it works, in four steps
- Order online. Choose your insoles at vesta-insoles.com. The price is a flat €120.
- Scan your feet with your iPhone. Download the VESTA Insoles app from the App Store. Place the iPhone on the floor and hold each foot above it; the TrueDepth camera captures the 3D shape of your foot in a few minutes. The app also guides you through a short walking recording for alignment and gait analysis.
- Clinical design. Our clinical team reviews your scan, your movement data and the information you give us about pain, activity and footwear, and designs each insole individually in CAD.
- Made in Portugal, delivered to you. Your insoles are manufactured in Portugal under controlled quality standards and shipped to your home. If they are not right for you, returns are free for 30 days.
What you need
- An iPhone with a TrueDepth (Face ID) camera, which means iPhone X or later. You can borrow one from a friend or family member for the scan.
- About ten minutes and a flat floor.
- No appointment, no travel and no impression kit.

Other companies also sell insoles made from a phone scan. What distinguishes VESTA is that the design is clinical rather than automatic: the process was built by physicians, it includes a movement assessment and not only the shape of the foot, and every pair is reviewed by a clinical team before it is produced.
Who it is for
People with plantar fasciitis and heel pain, flat feet or high arches, forefoot pain, knee or lower back complaints related to alignment, runners and athletes, and people who spend the working day on their feet. Custom insoles are one part of care and do not replace a medical assessment: if you have severe, sudden or unexplained pain, numbness, or diabetes with foot problems, see a doctor first. The evidence behind each indication is summarised on our Science & Clinical page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I really get custom medical insoles without going to a clinic?
Yes. The 3D scan made with the iPhone TrueDepth camera captures the shape of your foot, and the walking recording captures how you move. With those two elements our clinical team designs your insoles remotely.
Is a phone scan accurate enough?
The TrueDepth camera is a structured-light depth sensor, the same family of technology used in professional foot scanners. It measures the three-dimensional geometry of the foot rather than estimating it from photographs. We explain the technology in 3D Foot Scanning Explained.
Does it work with Android?
Not at the moment. The scan needs the iPhone TrueDepth sensor. Any iPhone X or later works, and it does not have to be your own phone.
How much does it cost?
€120 per pair, flat, including the scan, the clinical design and manufacturing. Returns are free for 30 days.
Where are the insoles made?
In Portugal, designed by our clinical team in Lisbon.
Do you ship outside Portugal?
Yes. Because the whole process is remote, we serve customers across Europe and beyond.
I am a physiotherapist, podiatrist or physician. Can I use VESTA with my patients?
Yes. See For Health Professionals: you scan your patient in your practice, we design, produce and deliver.
